Back To Running
I had a slow workout week, not really sure why. That changes this week. After the doctor on Wednesday, I had a seminar Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Thursday, I was up at 4:00 in the morning to travel and then spent 14 hours in a conference. No exercise there. But Friday morning, I did get up and go to the gym. The treadmills were taken, so I hit the stationary bike for 20 minutes (7 miles) until a treadmill opened up.
I got on the treadmill, walked for a couple of minutes and then started running. Wow, that felt good! The stop button was a magnet and I kept knocking it out and stopping the treadmill and starting over, so I’m going to estimate I ran about 1.5 miles. It was a good solid workout and it set the tone for the day, which consisted of another 14 hours in a conference room seat.
Saturday, the conference started early so no workout again, but I walked 5 miles today and I have big plans for the rest of the week. Now that I have the go-ahead to race in a couple of weeks, I have to make up for lost time so I can race in a couple of weeks, especially with the running.
I will be sticking with the treadmill this week for the most part–my hip felt fine all day on Friday after running there–but by the weekend I have to get back to the road.
I start PT tomorrow to get some better stretching for the hip flexor. Hopefully, I’ll only have to go a couple of times to stretch it and get it back to normal. I’m excited to get back to my regular routine and stick with it.
It’s been a little frustrating these last couple of months and my momentum is suffering because of all the little setbacks.
I’m proud of myself though because even with the setbacks, I haven’t stopped. I keep working on getting back on track as quickly as possible. It’s how I know this is more than an exercise routine or a way to lose weight.
It’s my new lifestyle. And it works for me!

I am very happy to hear you are seeing a PT! I really think you will see a huge difference!
I love this: “I’m proud of myself though because even with the setbacks, I haven’t stopped. I keep working on getting back on track as quickly as possible. It’s how I know this is more than an exercise routine or a way to lose weight.”
You are very dedicated to your new lifestyle and that is inspiring to me and many others!
