Ouuuuch…in a good way

I’ve been sitting at the computer for awhile. Blogging class, chatting with my brother (I’ve added his zazzle store to my sidebar – BarrelX. He’s quite the designer and he focuses on Xtreme sports. Cool stuff.) I wear his stuff all the time. Anyway, as I went to get up from the computer to head back upstairs, OOOWWWWW. You may have noticed I’m sitting down again. After a few weeks of intermittent workouts at best, I have gotten in four very solid exercise days. Core/strength training/Zumba on Saturday, swimming on Sunday, core/strength training with the ab killer Monday night and running Tuesday morning. The Ab Killer was especially energetic Monday night and we worked hard. Even tried out some new stuff on the Pilates bench. I was already sore from the weekend, but the training last night helped stretch that out. I felt good this morning, so I finally...

Trainer Tuesday: I’m All Twitchy

Even though today is Trainer Tuesday, I have to go back to Sunday for the start of this post. Sunday, I ran 4.5 miles. That’s the farthest I’ve gone to date and I’m closing in on my 5-mile by Thanksgiving target. Sunday was too beautiful a day to not run. I set out to do a 4-mile run but felt strong when I got home so I kept going, just another half mile. I stayed at a manageable pace (about 11.30 minute miles) and never got winded or felt the need to walk. When I stopped, however, my legs felt like jello for a while. And then my right quad started to twitch. Nothing too obnoxious but it lasted most of the day. Trainer Tuesday: The Ab Killer

I’ve started working out with a friend/trainer on Monday nights, and I thought having a Trainer Tuesday post to talk about those workouts might be a good feature. While these workouts aren’t directly related to triathlon training, we are doing a lot of core, balance and strength training, which can only help my performance in future races, right? Besides I feel less jiggly after Monday’s training night. Jen, my friend and now personal trainer, will be referred to in the rest of this post and going forward as The Ab Killer. ‘Cause that’s what she does best. She kills my abs. And secretly works in all kinds of other toning exercises in the process. And when we’re concentrating on other toning exercises, like arms, she’s sneaking in ab work.
